I think loss of connection with friendships and loneliness are some of the hardest things we face and something we rarely discuss openly.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10118184639099812247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969310708672037096.post-44873251200106793862015-12-22T07:53:17.776-08:002015-12-22T07:53:17.776-08:00Thank you so much for opening up your heart. This post made me more encouraged to start the ministry as soon as possible. I am always burdened for our missionaries each time they visit our church and their passion to serve the Lord abandoning all the comforts here in U.S. Again, thank you .blessedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03446225016857610807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969310708672037096.post-3368716975285600742015-12-21T11:45:17.098-08:002015-12-21T11:45:17.098-08:00Thank you! I know I can do more to keep connected, and this open-hearted article tells me that my efforts will be worth it. I am by nature an encourager, and I see my missionary lady friends in a whole new light: very fertile soil to receive that encouragement! Merry Christmas to you!<br />JoyTeacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17519428420964596642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969310708672037096.post-39882042040801441082015-12-21T07:53:19.068-08:002015-12-21T07:53:19.068-08:00Thank you for your words, Becca. You can't go back to the way things were, you don't fit in, but you don't want to either because of the refinement and molding and experiences God has given you. The Lord is faithful and heard my cries for deep friendship during my time in the DR but I experienced the weakening of relationships back in the states, as well. I realize the same thing will most likely happen with the friendships made in the DR as time goes on and I have to seek God's wisdom for when to hold on and when to let go. One thing's for sure, we'll never be the same. Thank you for making others aware of the heartache and struggle the majority of missionaries experience. May God bless you with deep fellowship of friends both on the field and abroad and continue to draw you deeper into Himself. Thank you for your obedience to God's call on your family's life.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14017378878966188995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969310708672037096.post-74505354519674597972015-12-21T03:27:37.723-08:002015-12-21T03:27:37.723-08:00Very well written, Becca. But along with concerted times of prayer I've determined to send encouraging notes to the ladies I consider friends as soon as we unpack and I find my stationery again! Merry Christmas, sweet lady!Jeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11513830398098235454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969310708672037096.post-85924417724768696732015-12-20T22:33:09.706-08:002015-12-20T22:33:09.706-08:00Thanks for sharing this! I have a few forever friends that kept after me, even as I struggled here on the field. It's hard to always be transparent about our needs, without sounding "needy." Missionary ladies, I encourage you as well, share with your friends as much as God can allow. Sometimes folks want to be a part of your lives, but don't always know how. It's an investment from both sides!susan4frhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04722641108266249458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969310708672037096.post-88265354662636321392015-12-20T17:19:18.363-08:002015-12-20T17:19:18.363-08:00Spot on, Rebecca!Spot on, Rebecca!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09288381628255711401noreply@blogger.com
